Peruse the contents of your Gmail inbox. Decide which items need to go where. Starting with one particular group (personal, bills, online shopping, etc.), highlight those emails which you want to place under a particular label. This is done by simply checking the box beside the email.

Once you have highlighted the group of emails you wish to label, click on the More Actions box, which can be found at the top and bottom of your inbox. (See picture) This brings up a list of actions that you can perform. Direct your mouse to the action named "New Label", and click on that.

Now you will see a pop-up box where you can enter the name of your new label. Create a name. The possibilities are endless!! Once you've entered your label name in the text box, click "OK".

Now, to see all emails listed under a specific label, simply go to the Label menu on the left side of the screen, and click on the desire label. This allows you to view only those emails that have been labeled.

To further your Gmail labeling enjoyment, you can now label new emails, remove labels, and add more labels to those emails already labeled. I wonder how many more times I can say label? Simply select the emails to be LABELED, click on the More Actions box, and select either New Label, Remove Label, or choose from one of the existing labels which are now listed on the More Actions menu. Spiffy, I KNOW!
