    • 1). Collect your bottle tops along with other Category 5 plastics such as yogurt, cheese, water bottle caps and other small food containers. Identify the category numbers by looking within the triangular chasing-arrows image. Rinse and sort them together for collection.

    • 2). Take your Category 5 plastics to a local store that offers Category 5 recycling bins. Mail in your Category five plastics to programs such as Preserve's Gimme Five or to Aveda Cosmetics if you don't have a drop-off location near you.

    • 3). Search for a school program that takes Category 5 plastic bottle caps and recycles them for charity. These programs are more common in the United Kingdom, but in the United States, many schools and communities participate in mailing in their Category 5 plastics. Contact your local recycling center or look online for more information.
