Instructions for Granite Undermount Sink Mounting
- 1). Dampen a rag with acetone and wipe the top edge of the lip on the undermount sink and the bottom edge of the sink opening in the granite where they will make contact with each other. This removes any dust or debris to provide a good bonding surface.
- 2). Place the sink under the opening and support it, using the brace and bar clamps. Lay the brace across the sink opening in the countertop, insert the clamp end in the drain hole of the sink and tighten the clamp until the sink's edge is approximately 1 inch from the bottom of the countertop. Repeat this step for sinks with two drain openings.
- 3). Load the caulking gun with the silicone and apply a generous bead of the material around the lip of the sink.
- 4). Tighten the bar clamps until the sink rests snugly against the bottom of the countertop.
- 5). Use your finger to remove any excess silicone that squeezed out of the joints. Dampen a rag with acetone to remove any silicone film on the surface of the sink or the edge of the sink opening.
- 6). Inspect the joint to make sure there is a continuous bead of silicone around the sink, and apply more if necessary.
- 7). Allow the silicone to cure for at least 24 hours before you connect the plumbing.
