If you've tried out the Apple Music streaming service and decided that it's not for you, you'll want to cancel your subscription so you don't get charged for something you don't want or use. Makes sense. But finding the options for canceling that subscription isn't so easy. The options are hidden in your iPhone's Settings app or in your Apple ID in iTunes.

Because your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, canceling it in one location cancels it in all of the locations where you use your Apple ID.

So, no matter what device you used to sign up, if you end your subscription on iPhone, you're also canceling in iTunes and on your iPad, and vice versa.

If you want to cancel your Apple Music subscription, follow these steps.

Canceling Apple Music on iPhone

You don't end your subscription from within the Music app exactly. Rather, you use that app to get to your Apple ID, where you can cancel.
  1. Tap the Music app to open it
  2. In the top left corner, there's a silhouette icon (or a photo, if you've added one). Tap that to view your account
  3. Tap View Apple ID.
  4. If you're asked for your Apple ID password, enter it here
  5. Tap Manage
  6. Tap Your Membership
  7. Move the Automatic Renewal slider to Off.

Canceling Apple Music in iTunes

You can cancel Apple Music using iTunes on your desktop or laptop computer, too. To do that, follow these steps:
  1. Open the iTunes program on your computer
  2. Click the Account drop down between the music window and search box at the top of the program (if you're logged into your Apple ID, the menu has your first name in it)

  1. In the drop down, click Account Info
  2. Enter your Apple ID password
  3. You'll be taken to the Account Information screen for your Apple ID. On that screen, scroll down to the Settings section and click Manage on the Subscriptions line
  4. In the row for your Apple Music membership, click Edit
  5. In the Automatic Renewal section of that screen, click the Off button
  6. Click Done.

What Happens to Saved Songs After Cancelation?

While you were using Apple Music, you may have saved songs for offline playback. In that situation, you save the songs to have in your iTunes or iOS Music library so you can listen to the songs without streaming and using any of your monthly data plan

You only have access to those songs, however, while you maintain an active subscription. If you cancel your Apple Music plan, you will no longer be able to listen to those saved songs.

A Note About Cancelation and Billing

After you follow the steps above, your subscription is cancelled. It's important to know, though, that your access to Apple Music isn't immediately ended at that point. Because subscriptions are charged at the beginning of each month, you'll still have access until the end of the current month.

For example, if you cancel your subscription on July 2, you'll be able to keep using the service until the end of July. On Aug. 1, your subscription will end and you won't be charged again.
