The Tsunami and the Whisper
Before anything else I would like to ask everyone to please, please get out and vote today.
I don't care who it's for, I don't care if you need to do it in between jobs, just do it.
Research to learn even the basics, it will take you less than an hour, just Google their names.
The world needs to see that this country still cares, and while I strongly support one candidate over the other, I am willing to accept whomever the masses elect, no matter how painstakingly it may have to occur.
I can only hope that my vision of change is the one that is fulfilled, though the same can be said about anyone, no matter whom they believe will bring that change.
With that said, I begin: I've been struggling to find the right words for this post for twelve hours.
Never before have I experienced such a writer's block on a topic that I am so passionate about.
I've decided that the best approach is to simply, write.
Today, I have every intention to vote for Barack Obama.
Love it or hate it, he is the man that I am entrusting the future to.
This does not mean that I am a Democrat, or that I hate John McCain, or anything even close to either of those extremes.
I do not, and never do I plan, to affiliate myself with any political party.
They are the modern day epicenter of mob mentality.
Further, I respect John McCain with every amount of dignity that he deserves.
He is, in every sense of the word, dedicated to his country through years in the Navy and as a very large part of this government.
However, and I say this with all due respect, he will not lead this country down the path that it needs to go.
I've liked Barack since I saw him debating with all of the other candidates for the presidency, Democrats and Republicans.
This doesn't make me bias from the start, though.
My mind is an analytical one, a reasoning one, and as such, I have been doing research on all sides of the election.
I read news that is bias to both sides, and news that claims to lack such slantings, and I read it every day.
I create my own opinions.
I've even read both Faith of My Fathers by John McCain, and The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama, and what I've determined through all of this research, is that the key to politics is the lack of politics.
Today, I am voting for a person, not a politician.
John is an infinitely strong character who has persevered through many, many hardships.
While I respect him, and while I still feel he is leagues better than Bush, I do not trust him to craft my vision of the future.
Barack is different.
The feelings that I have for him, and the things I think so many other people see in him, are held in his words, in his tone, and in his eyes.
He is a person that I could sit down and talk with.
He is a scholar, and in a time when the world is being ravaged by warlords and fear, it is a thinker that we need.
I'll put myself on the line and guarantee that Barack's cabinet will hold an eclectic mix of minds.
He is like me, he loves to be disagreed with, because he realizes that it is the power of two conflicting minds that have the capacity to create true change -- not conflicting arms.
I'm not going to tell you who to vote for.
I'm not going to reprimand you one way or the other.
All I can ask, all I can hope, is that today when you step in to the polls, you do it with a sense of responsibility and knowledge.
Don't vote blindly, don't not vote at all.
For this election, do as I am doing, and quiet your mind, even just for an instant, and vote with your instinct and with your heart.
The US Presidential election is far more concerning to the world stage than the election or enstatement of any other world leader.
This vote is for our planet.
In my eyes, the dynamics of politics will change, and soon it won't be about slander, or policies, or war.
Soon, the world will concern itself with a different kind of living and loving.
Things are changing, and if you are like me you can see it in the eyes of stranger, you can feel it under your skin.
Change comes as a whisper, and drives like a tsunami.
Take a moment to listen for its wind to graze your ear, and then rejoice as its force slams you in the chest.
Be an agent of this change, and stop letting the world pass you by.
It is time for a collective union of minds, and hearts, and souls all across the globe.
I will never tell you what to think, only that you need to feel.
If you feel the things I do, and if you see them in the face of John McCain, then please, by all means, follow your heart and cast the vote that is right to you.
All I am saying is that, for me, the whisper embraced the tsunami, and all at once, I was completely aware of the change that my heart and soul truly believe in, and that change begins with Barack Hussein Obama.
