Nature provides alternative ways of getting health.
One of these is by the process known as naturopathy.
Simply explained, it is a method of using alternative, drugless applications to cure any disease.
Almost all diseases can be cured in this way.
An attempt in naturopathy is worthwhile when one sees the numerous problems besetting people when they use drugs.
Drugs are increasingly getting difficult to use, as a result of many reasons.
Standards vary from one country to the other, new diseases are springing up globally, and economic challenges limits the affordability of drugs by many.
Better alternatives therefore become the way forward.
In naturopathy, the symptoms of a particular ailment is introduced into the patient's body to use.
The immediate reaction cold be painful, but the human body being very adaptive in no time rises to the occasion by building up immunity for that ailment.
Once that immunity is in place, it is progressively strengthened and can withstand any attack of that disease.
In essence, once there is strong immunity, the viruses of a disease cannot overpower a person.
When treating a patient, a doctor of naturopathy attempts to work holistically, that is, cure the person as a whole, not just the particular disease the patient has complained about.
The tools of a naturopathic doctor are natural substances, there are no drugs used.
There are certain diseases that can be cured using this method of naturopathy.
Such diseases include allergies, arthritis, indigestion, asthma, inflammatory disorders,, infertility, etc.
In naturopathic treatment, the patient is a part of the solution, which implies that the history of the ailment must be supplied by the patient to guide the doctor.
The healing proper which is devoid of surgery or application of drugs is by natural practices such as diet change, adoption of alternative life style, exercises, change of environment, relaxation, counseling, body massage, and the use of herbs, and similar methods.
By these natural practices, the healer uses prior knowledge obtained from the patient in healing.
History points to the fact that Hippocrates, the Greek pioneer physician from the ancient times started this way, but as time wore on, modern tools and practices were incorporated such that today, the primordial healing techniques got relegated to the background, resulting in inappropriate use of drugs with its attendant side effects.
With all due respect to science, research, and the quantum leap in modern orthodox medicine, it will be a good idea if more attention is paid to training in natural healing methods by Colleges, Universities and Medical Schools to minimize the rising problems of using drugs.
Humanity is in dire need of this.
