How to Remove & Replace Ceramic Tile From a Garden Window

    • 1). Remove the existing grout from between the tiles using the razor blade or a utility knife.

    • 2). Put the chisel in the freezer for a while until it is extremely cold. The cold chisel will assist in cracking each current tile quickly and cleanly. This will be the easiest way to break up and remove only the tiles you want to replace, while leaving others in place. Pull the tile pieces off if they have not already fallen.

    • 3). Lightly scrape away at bumps and clumps of old adhesive under the tiles. You need a smooth surface when reapplying new tile.

    • 4). Place a small amount of ceramic tile adhesive on the back of each tile. Do one at a time, placing it on the window before moving on to the next adhesive application on another tile.

    • 5). Leave small spaces between each tile to fill with grout. The adhesive should not be closer than 1/2 inch to the edge of the tile. If it is too close to the edges, the adhesive will squirt out the sides.

    • 6). Apply grout between the tiles. The grout injector allows you to create as thick or thin a line of grout as you want for a clean look between the tiles.
