Iran and US Tension Go Way Back
During the GOP debates in November of 2011 there was a good bit of talk about what to do with Iran in their obvious push towards nuclear weapons.
You see, the report from the IAEA had just been released showing overwhelming evidence that Iran was seeking to build a nuclear weapon which could be placed on top of a medium range ICBM missile.
The Chinese have sold such missiles to Iran, and now Iran is manufacturing those missiles along with anti-ship missiles for a potential war in the Persian Gulf presently.
Obviously this is a big concerned and it is a national security issue not only for our allies abroad, and US troops in bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also for the Jewish state of Israel which happen to be located in what many would say is "hostile territory" for them.
As we all know Iran does sponsor proxy terrorists to serve its will in various nations.
It also supports Hamas and Hezbollah which have fire rockets and started wars with Israel.
It was interesting to see the various GOP candidates and listen to their thoughts on this serious issue.
However, as well as their comments were taken, and their advice was given, one could also recommend that anyone interested in this issue should study the history between the US tensions and Iran.
Apparently, Newt Gingrich has judging by his comments.
Politicians should also understand the Iraq-Iran war, what's going on right now with Iran trying to influence Iraq politically and how this bothers the Arab League.
Further, the Iran-Contra affair is something that should also be studied, along with Jimmy Carter's attempt to free the hostages after the fall of the Shaw of Iran.
There is a very good book that I own, and one that I believe you should read, which will help with get a better perspective.
The name of the book is; "The Iran-Contra Connection - What the Tower Commission Didn't Report - secret teams and covert operations in the Reagan era That," by Jonathan Marshall, Peter Dale Scott, and Jane Hunter, published by South End Press, Boston, MA, (1987), 315 pages, ISBN: 0-89608-262-X.
Although this book was written almost 25 years ago, you must also understand that it was written by people who knew what they were talking about, and they were a lot closer to history back then, then we are today after having it has all been rewritten to serve our political will.
It's important to know the truth, and all the different versions of it, so we can understand the full reality behind our attempt to get Iran to stop producing nuclear weapons.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on.
