      The Compaq Armada M300 laptop computer was created in 2001, and was considered a "subnotebook" computer. It was designed to run the Windows 2000 or Windows NT operating systems. Unlike a traditional notebook computer, the Armada was extremely lightweight and did not include a CD or DVD drive. (An optional add-on was manufactured that would hook up a DVD or CD player, but this added to the weight of the computer.)

    • The Compaq Armada M300 is 10.4 inches wide, 8.8 inches deep and 0.9 inches high. The computer on its own weighs 3.1 pounds, though the power adapter and CD/DVD drive add-ons increase this weight. The computer case is black. It uses a standard touchpad instead of a mouse. The screen is 11.3 inches and is based on TFT technology, with 24-bit color. It provides a maximum resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels.

    • The Compaq Armada M300 laptop computer features a 500 Mhz Pentium III processor with a 256K level 2 cache. The computer's memory is based on SDRAM technology and is in the form of a SODIMM 144-pin chip. It comes with 128MB of RAM. The hard drive is 12GB, and the computer comes with a built-in 1.44MB floppy drive. The graphics processor is an ATI Rage LT Pro featuring AGP 2X graphics. It comes with 4MB of video RAM. The computer comes with built-in sound and a 56 Kbps modem. There is also an Ethernet adapter.

The power adapter is external and works on either 110 or 220 volt electricity. It features a lithium ion battery rated at about two hours of life. The operating system provided with the computer is either Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0, and it also comes with assorted drivers and utilities.
