How to Convert WordPad to MS Word
- 1). Open an existing WordPad document or create a new one.
- 2). Click "File" to open an options menu and then "Save As" to save the file.
- 3). Name the file and save it in Rich Text Format with an RTF extension. This is generally the default format in WordPad and will be displayed in the "Save as Type" field in the "Save File" dialog box.
- 4). Open Word and open the file you just saved. RTF files are compatible with Word.
- 5). Click "Save As" in Word and select "Word Document" to convert the file from RTF format to Word format, with either a DOCX or DOC file extension, depending on your version of Word.
