How to Sharpen Photos in Photoshop CS3
- 1). Make a copy of the original background (press "Ctrl" + "J"). This will duplicate the layer.
- 2). Click the "Layers" palette, choose "Overlay" from the Blending Mode drop-down selection. Disregard the deep contrast.
- 3). Select "Filter," "Other," "High Pass" from the main menu bar. The High Pass dialog box appears.
- 4). Drag the "Radius" slider bar slightly to the right to sharpen the image. You should visually judge the results to determine how much sharpening you want. Generally, start at the very left of the slider (1.0) and slowly advance the slider while carefully watching the image. Somewhere between 1.2 and 2.2 may yield the best result (see Tips).
- 5). Click "OK".
