How to Unlock 3G Cell Phones
- 1). Open the battery port of your phone and gently remove the battery. On the sticker just below your battery there will be a 15 to 17 alpha numeric code. Write it down. This is your phone's serial or IMEI number.
- 2). Locate a website that sells unlock codes for your make and model of 3G phone. Some sites that you can consider are 3G.co.uk, iclarified, and GSMLiberty. As of 2010 these codes cost between $15.99 to $39.99
- 3). Find the manufacturer of the phone along with the model. Type in the IMEI code in the space provided on the website that you are purchasing your codes.
- 4). Choose the cell phone network and country your phone is registered with, if necessary. Enter your payment information and a valid email address and purchase your codes.
- 5). Go to your e-mail inbox in one to two days and retrieve the unlock codes. These will come with step by step instructions on how to unlock your phone. Write down your code exactly as you see it.
- 6). Go back to the phone and turn it off. Take out the SIM card, and battery, and put in a new card with a different mobile network. If you don't have a card you can borrow one from a friend's phone.
- 7). Turn your phone on and type the unlock code that you received in your e-mail. Click "OK" and your phone will restart. When it comes back on your will get a message that your phone is unlocked and you will see the name of the new network at the top.
