Fashion" s Final Touches

Fashion freaks always fall victim to one faux-pas - trying to wear too many styles at once. The essence of being fashionably cool is building a unique look out of classic pieces and a few novel ones. For men that might mean wearing a fabulous pair of shoes with cuffed khakis and a beautiful cardigan for a woman it might mean stacking colourful bangles up her arm.

Scott Schuman is the creator of the famous fashion blog, the Sartorialist. He is famous for capturing fabulously dressed people all over the world. Whether your look is classic Italian designer, or funky Lower East Side, New York City, if he thinks you've got something special going on, he will capture it.

The Sartorialist is interested in detail. He is as impressed by the buckles on a workman's boots as he is by an haute couture dress. Such details might include:

A tie on a woman:

The female androgynous look has been in fashion for centuries. Often associated with gender roles, the androgynous look has come to be adopted by some of the most feminine and fashion forward women in the world. On the cover of V Magazine's Winter 2009/10 issue, stunning actress, Nathalie Portman, rocked an androgynous look with a mohawk hair-do, dark eye make-up and a white v-neck with a black denim jacket.

Kris Cross:

Remember Kris Cross? They were the American teenage rap duo who released the hit song 'Jump' in 1992. They were mostly known for wearing their clothes backwards. The duo were so influential, teenagers across North America actually adopted the style. Wearing a cardigan backwards or even a dress shirt can add a unique element to an outfit.

Rings:

There is something very sexy about a man who wears rings on his fingers. Not only does it illustrate confidence, but it draws attention to his hands, gives them a look of hard work or creativity. Jewellery draws attention to parts of the body often ignored, such as the nape of a person's neck, knuckles, wrists, or ankles. It gives character to a person by accessorising their less noticeable features.

Briefcases:

Most of the time when you see a briefcase it's in the hands of a suit on the way to work. What's really cool though is when you see one being carried by a young woman or man on their way to Saturday lunch. Briefcases are made in stylish shapes and beautiful leathers. Why not wear them casually?

One of fashion's principal rules is 'less is more'. Beauty is in the details.
