Just returned a couple of days ago from this cruise. First, I will admit that I had an excellent time on the cruise. The things that were best were destinations, fabulous food, and room attendants. The ship was spectacular. Even during gale force winds, it was hardly noticable.

Of course, bartenders, shop attendants and general crew were very professional. It was truly a classy cruise.

As a very young person in my mid-fifties, I was a bit bored with the entertainment. I ate at the 6:00 seating. After eating, I would go for a cocktail in a lounge that had a band or musical group of some sort. When people left for the second seating at 8:30 P.M. the bands would go away and leave a void until after 10:00 P.M. Overall, the performers were very talented but seemed to be geared for the old crowd. It freaked me out when I heard the band one night playing a jazzed up version of "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Nevertheless, there was a "sock-hop" one night when 60s music was played. The band was great and the participation was huge. If I were another 15-20 years older, I would have probably enjoyed the entertainment but it didn't seem to cover all age groups, etc.

The excursions were very expensive. Being travel savvy, I knew to do things on my own. I felt sorry for people that went to less places than I and payed several times more than I did for excursions.

So, it is smart to do things on one's own if they feel comfortable in foreign lands. Of course, Russia was the exception. Ship excursions seemed to be comparable to Russian prices.

There were alternative methods of eating for those that watch what they eat and don't enjoy formal dining at all meals. I loved the spa restaurant where healthy meals were always served when open. My wife was disappointed that the hours where ice cream was available were too limited.

Laundry facilities were not available but the ship's laundry/dry-cleaners seemed to be reasonable. Before sailing, I had my suit pressed in London to get rid of wrinkles and it cost $13. After London prices, the ship seemed a bargin. Of course, women are picky as to whom washes their underclothes and the lack of a laundry make it a bit awkward.

I had no problems with carrying booze into my room althought the ship requests that it be stored in their possession. The prices of almost all items in the shops could be purchased for less off ship.

In conclusion, I would definitely go back on this cruise. It was worth the money. I highly recommend it.
