How to Draw a Coconut Palm Tree

    • 1). Draw a dot centered in the top middle of your paper that will serve as a starting point for the top of the tree's trunk. Make sure you leave enough space on the top of your paper to allow for the drawing of long palm leaves. Starting on one side of the dot, draw a vertical line downward that has a slight curvature to one side. Draw another vertical line downward from the other side of the top dot, mirroring the same curvature as the other line. Once done, you should now have what appears to a long thin triangular shape with a gradual curve.

    • 2). Draw a horizontal line either underneath the tree trunk or slightly behind it to give the tree grounding so it doesn't appear as if the tree is floating in free space. Create five to seven lines that branch out from the right and left of the dot, thus making the center point of the palm leaves.

    • 3). Flesh out the palm leaves by drawing several small lines on each side of each of the branch lines, then draw narrow ovals around each of these lines to make the individual leaves on the palm tree's branches. Add the coconuts at the top of the tree, just underneath the large branch lines, right at the dot. Usually the coconut tree produces four to five coconuts per tree, so draw in the circles to represent the coconuts.

    • 4). Add small light pencil marks to give the impression of the rough outer husk of the coconuts. Add small horizontal lines to the tree trunk to show the tree's bark. Erase any errant or overlapping lines you may have made and trace your drawing in black ink to make your art stand out on the page.
