How to Fold a Cravat Bandage
- 1). Set the cravat on a flat surface and fold from the long end of the triangle. Make 2-inch folds, eventually ending up with a 2-inch wide headband type of wrap. Use this type of cravat for head wounds or as a pressure bandage.
- 2). Unfold the cravat and place the lower arm into the long end of the triangle, between the two sides of the fabric. Keep the elbow tucked into the end and fold the front side of the cravat triangle up and over the shoulder. Fold the underside of the cravat up to the shoulder and tie the two ends together. This type of cravat fold creates a makeshift arm and shoulder sling.
- 3). Fold the cravat as described in Step 1 then place a large piece of gauze in the center. Fold the cravat around the head so that the gauze ends up over an injured eye. Use this type of cravat as a field dressing for eye injuries.
- 4). Fold the cravat into the headband fold described in Step 1 then fold the length of the headband into thirds, for storage.
