How to Clean Mildew Off a Tent
- 1). Take the tent out and lay it out on a flat surface in your yard, but on concrete. You can also put the tent up as if you were going to use it, but this will be more difficult to clean while in an upright position.
- 2). Put on some protective gloves. Combine a mixture of 2 cups of the bleach and 1 gallon of the water. Put the mixture in a large spray bottle.
- 3). Spray the mixture on the areas that have the mildew. Let it sit there for up to half an hour. This will allow the solution to soak the mildew and loosen it up.
- 4). Use a bristle brush to scrub the area after half an hour. Scrub hard and you should see the mildew coming off.
- 5). Mix a cup of salt with a cup of lemon juice and put in a spray bottle and spray on the mildewed area for additional cleaning, if the mildew is hard to remove. Wash the area with a garden hose and allow it to air dry thoroughly.
- 6). Use seam sealant and apply it on all of the seam area on the tent. Let the seam sealant completely dry. Use waterproof spray over the seam sealant and let it sit and dry thoroughly.
