Common Sense Today

My fellow Americans, in this time of great dissent we must forever remain faithful to the principles given to us by the fathers of this nation.
We have been charged with the duty to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
This is not a laborless task or a passive endeavor.
This is our burden, given to us by the original citizens who empowered the great minds that stood up against tyranny at the risk of death.
It is not just our right.
It is our duty to remain steadfast and resilient in the face of those who would oppose the cause of freedom.
If we stand idly by and watch our liberty become a whisper, once spoken of long ago, then I am afraid we can never again claim that we are worthy of such an ideal.
Our Government has surpassed the acceptable use of power in an increasingly audacious fashion.
We, the people, have allowed our liberties to be slowly blurred into lines of imaginary security through legislation.
Promises of equality, justice, and safety have been glorified to the point of false rationality.
Holding fast in these, our most arduous of circumstances, can be the testament of our faith to future generations.
Freedom and liberty for all men must be our intention.
The Constitution must be our guide.
Freedom should forever flourish in times of great dissent, not succumb to fear or intimidation handed to us by those who we charge with the duty of upholding our rights.
Information is now passed to the people by means that have evolved beyond the process envisioned by the great leaders of generations past.
It is in this we have found our greatest vulnerability to distorted truth.
The will of the people has been suppressed by the desire of the wealthy.
The power of the people has been drawn away and replaced by a sense of wanting.
How did we reach such dire need of guidance? Is it not enough to be lead by our own morality, which includes fairness and equal rights for all? When did we decide liberty was to be enforced by the courts of man, where decisions are swayed based on greed and the desire to not allow others of different standards of living to carry out that which will do us no harm? It is fear of this that now drives us to the brink of authoritarianism.
We must not forget that the power our leaders possess to control our lives is granted to them by our quiet submission.
If we allow this balance of power to take foothold now, then we give to our children a burden that they will not be able to carry.
History should give us resolve beyond measure so that we may cry out in one voice "Give me liberty or give me death!"
