How to Make a Bracelet With Recycled Comic Books

    • 1). Tear the pages from the comic book and discard the staples that hold the pages together. Lay the pages flat and measure across, dividing the page into pieces at least 1/2-inch or more, depending on how large you want the beads. Cut along each measurement, creating strips and trim off the bottom, making each strip 6 inches long.

    • 2). Cover the work area with old newspaper and place your comic book strips on the paper. Pour the white glue in the paper cup. Dip the paintbrush into the paper cup and paint a thin layer of glue on the comic book strip, coating all areas of the paper.

    • 3). Hold the strip in one hand and gently wrap the strip around the pencil. Keep one finger on the edge of the paper and keep the paper as tight as possible while rolling. Move the pencil to one side and repeat the process with your other strips of paper. Slide the beads down the pencil every few hours until the glue dries.

    • 4). Paint over the outside of the bead with decoupage glue or clear nail polish. The decoupage glue forms a clear coat or bond on the outside of the bead. The glue keeps the paper from unraveling and protects the beads from wear and tear.

    • 5). Cut a piece of ribbon or string long enough that it wraps around your wrist with a few inches left over. Tie a knot in one end of the ribbon. String the comic book beads onto the string, alternating the beads with colored beads that match the colors of the comic book. Wrap the bracelet around your wrist, tie the two ends together and trim off the excess.
