How to Program a Car Remote for an Older Garage Door
- 1). Turn your vehicle's ignition to the off position. Press and hold the two outer buttons on the onboard system until the red indicator light begins flashing. This will erase any previous codes programmed into the system.
- 2). Hold your garage door remote about two inches from the onboard system.
- 3). Press and hold the open button on your remote and the button you wish to program on the onboard system simultaneously. Release the buttons once the indicator light begins flashing rapidly.
- 4). Press the training button on your onboard system and release it once the light glows continually. If it continues to flash, continue to the following steps.
- 5). Press the "smart" button on your garage door's motor, located near the antenna wire on the back or side of the system.
- 6). Press the training button on your onboard syetem again, hold it for two seconds and release it. Repeat the press/hold/release twice more and your onboard system will be reset and ready for use.
