DIY Quarter Pipe
- 1). Draw a horizontal line on the plywood, parallel to the 8-foot-long sides, 1 foot 11-3/4 inches from one 8-foot side.
- 2). Tie a string to a pencil so the length of string from the end to the pencil is 5 feet, 6 inches long.
- 3). Position the end of the string 1 foot 7-1/8 inches in from one 4-foot side of the plywood so that when the string is stretched straight and parallel to the 4-foot sides the string crosses over the line drawn and just reaches one 8-foot long side of the plywood.
- 4). Hold the end of the string in place and sweep an arc with the pencil. This process will draw a quarter-pipe shape on the plywood, with an arced ramp face and a flat top created by the first line drawn.
- 5). Position the end of the string 1 foot 7-1/8 inches in from the other 4-foot side of the plywood so that when the string is stretched straight and parallel to the 4-foot sides the string crosses over the side of the plywood and just reaches the first line drawn. Repeat the arc, creating a second quarter-pipe shape on the plywood.
- 6). Mark a notch on the flat line at the top of each quarter pipe section 2 inches from where the arc touches the line drawn. Draw a 2-inch-long line parallel with the short sides of the plywood. Draw a second line on each quarter-pipe shape, perpendicular to the 2-inch line, over to the arc of the ramp. This notch drawn will allow the coping to sit flush.
- 7). Draw a line in each quarter-pipe shape parallel to the short sides of the plywood, 5 feet, 1 1/4 inches from the back edge of the quarter-pipe shape.
- 8). Cut out the quarter-pipe shapes, cutting up the last line drawn in each. Cut along the arc until the notch is reached, through both lines of the notch. Cut along the original line until the end of the plywood is reached.
- 9). Position a 2-by-4 with its 4-inch side running flush with the back edge of one quarter-pipe section and its 2-inch edge flush with the top of the section. Secure with screws. Secure the same plank to the matching upper back corner of the second side.

Secure three more planks along the top of the quarter pipe sections, with one pipe running flush with the front edge next to the notch and the remaining two spaced evenly between the two secured planks. - 11
Secure a plank flush with the lower back corner of the ramp sections. - 12
Position the sixth plank flush with the cutout at the bottom of each arced ramp section. - 13
Attach the remaining five planks evenly spaced along the length of the curved section, with the 2-inch sides flush with the arc at the point where they are secured. - 14
Drill four holes through the pipe with a 3/16-inch bit, with one hole 6 inches from one end of the pipe and an additional hole every 12 inches. - 15
Turn the pipe so the holes are facing down. Drill a 3/8-inch hole directly over each smaller hole. - 16
Place the pipe in the cutout notches so the small holes are pointed at the 2-by-4 flush with the notches. Drive screws through the holes to secure the pipe. The larger holes will allow you to get the screwdriver into the pipe to secure the screws. - 17
Cut a section of plywood 4 feet wide and 2 feet long from the remainder of the first plywood sheet. Secure to the top of the ramp with screws into the 2-by-4 crossbeams. - 18
Cut a section of plywood 4 feet wide and 3 feet 9 inches long from the second piece of plywood. - 19
Position the plywood flush with the bottom of the coping. Secure to the crossbeams in the arced section with screws. Start at the top crossbeam and work your way down the ramp. - 20
Place the remaining section of plywood over the first. Secure with screws. - 21
Place the masonite atop the plywood. Secure with screws.
