How Parents Cope When Controlling ADHD Without Medication - Why Not Follow Their Example?

I have just checked the ADHD forums to see what were the latest posts on controlling ADHD without medication.
There were about 1,000 replies to this over the last few years so it is obviously a topic that gets people going.
Anyway, here are some of the ideas that struck me as useful and which I am going to try out, although some of them are already well established in our household.
Providing a safe, regular routine and a structure are really important for ADHD kids which is why I always ask about how ADHD friendly your home is.
Where is the noticeboard in your house? Lists and notices do make things easier although an ADHD child may get lost and not remember where he had got to but parents and siblings can always lend a helping hand.
Of course you can go overboard with lists but I must say they are a great help.
I also found that having timers and post its in various places helped.
I know that some parents allow their kids to let off steam by giving them plenty of green time and possibly spending some of that quality time with them.
Research now shows that they are much less likely to have a temper tantrum outside than in the shopping mall.
Skateboarding and biking can be great fun although we might limit our participation just to biking! Well, shopping malls drive me a bit crazy but for an ADHD child, it can be a sort of hell.
As he has trouble in processing incoming information, and has a sensory overload, the shopping mall can be an inferno.
I know one mother who had decided to follow their doctor's prescription and gave her son Adderall for over two years.
When she started studying pharmacy, she realized what these meds contained and she stopped them.
She also stopped medicating because her son had lost his appetite and had severe headaches too.
She used many techniques to make sure that her son had the best while controlling ADHD without medication.
She, like many parents know that keeping the boy hydrated does really make a difference so whenever there are problems, he has a drink of water and this has had a positive effect on his behavior.
Looking after diet is important too.
We stocked up on fruit and vegetables and made smoothies when we could, to make them more appetizing.
Then we added in an Omega 3 supplement because I know that the essential fatty acids they contain really do help the brain to function better.
Also we ramped up the B Vitamin B group of foods.
The only concession we made to any sort of medication was to use homeopathic remedies and we found that this really was the easiest way of controlling ADHD without medication.
We also made sure that we had a good behavior modification program in place in the household and all the family were signed up to it.
So, there you have it.
I have prepared a website to shorten your learning curve on ADHD homeopathic remedies and why these are really the best alternative for controlling ADHD without medication.
This is well worth a look and will save you loads of time.
