    Alien Party

    • An alien party is a celebration of all things extraterrestrial. Decorations can include slide shows of planets, constellations and nebulae. Guests come dressed either as recognizable characters such as E.T. or the crew of "Star Trek," or as aliens of their own design. Since most people have never actually met an alien, you can make one look however you want, and nobody can say you're wrong. Go for the traditional green man with a big head and a silver uniform, or create a new alien by gluing Cheerios all over your body and wearing twigs and roses on your head. Who knows? Maybe that's what they look like on Uranus.

    Silent Party

    • This party requires very open-minded guests, because it's very strange and will make some people intensely uncomfortable. This party is just like a normal party, except there is no music, no talking and no sound at all. Guests come and eat and stare at each other without speaking. They can even dance if they want to, but without music. Depending on the nature of your friends, people will begin giggling or will be traumatized. Be sure to provide lots of food, since without being able to speak, people will take refuge in the snack table more than usual. Parties of this nature generally don't run late.

    Villain Party

    • Guests come as their favorite villain. Characters can be fictional, historical or personal acquaintances if someone knows a person he thinks is a true villain. Party games can include efforts at world domination or perhaps mixed martial arts. Prepare for an evening filled with cult leaders, Nazis, politicians of all stripes and lots of mass murderers.

    Technology Party

    • Put large flat screen TVs on all the walls of your living room and attach them to CCTV cameras pointed at the room. The party will then be broadcast back into itself from all angles. All guests will be required to communicate with each other solely by means of cell phones, Blackberries and other electronic devices. The soundtrack should be Kraftwerk from start to finish, with perhaps a few numbers by Gary Numan thrown in.
