Do You Know Who Your REAL Friends Are?

Seriously...Do You?

Millions of different and unique friendships exist on this planet we call Earth. However, like most aspects of life, there is ALWAYS the possibility of a good friendship ending for a variety of reasons (Remember Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie?) Life is not so simple after all:). The fact of the matter is...many people come in and go out of our lives each and every day. On the other hand, those FEW people that are around us CONSISTENTLY (Family not included)...are considered to be our FRIENDS. Relationships tend to have a hiearchy as follows: 1. Strangers- Never met or even saw these individuals before in life...until the day you cross paths 2. Acquaintances- Still pretty much are strangers, except now you know their names and faces which allows you to conversate briefly on occasion when you see each other) 3. Associates- You are now past the stranger phase, at this time you know more about them other than their names and faces (Their occupation, marital status, names of their children, etc.) which now increases your comfort level around these people for LONGER conversations but NOT hanging out just yet 4. Friends- At this point you are comfortable enough to introduce your other good friends to these fortunate individuals and actually spend some time hanging out with them 5. Best Friends- Finally...they made it into your inner circle, meaning that if you have a secret or other private knowledge, they will be the only people to hear about it besides certain family members (Very few people make it to this level)

So What Is A Real Friend?

We all were involved in one form or another, a situation where we lost a friend. The cause of the break up could be anything from arguing over a small amount of money all the way to stealing your friends girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband or vice versa. A physical altercation could have also taken place (Never a good thing).

In these days and times, it seems like everybody is only concerned with themselves. Some people are VERY manipulative and conniving when they want to be. In other words, they may be cool with you for a while. However, as soon as the RIGHT opportunity comes around (that could be anything), your so-called friend(s) will turn on you faster than a lamborghini going one hundred and sixty miles an hour! A few examples of this "right opportunity" are:

- Breaking up with your boyfriend/girlfriend (one month later, your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend is now with your soon to be ex friend)
- You get stopped by the police and your so called friend is in possession of a firearm, illegal drugs, or open alcoholic beverage (if it is found, he or she trys to pin it on you so you take the fall)
- You lose your job and suddenly your so-called friend vanishes into thin air...until you find another job (he or she only sticks around when you are making money)
You tell your so-called friend a secret, and they go behind your back to tell everybody they know.
OR...
- You find out about an AWESOME business opportunity, and when you let your so-called friend know, he or she laughs at you on top of telling you that it is a waste of time.

There are many many more possible causes for friendships to end. To be honest with you, they were NEVER your friends to begin with (That is only my opinion of course). There are actually a few exceptions such as your best friend moving to a very far away place or he/she passes away (God forbid). In a society where you hear constantly about negativity (Internet Scams, Bank Robberies, Random Shootings, White Collar Crimes, etc.) on the morning AND evening news, it is no wonder that alot of friendships do not last. Now what I really mean is the constant negative reinforcement to our subconscious minds causes some of us to give in to the pressure.

Growing up in a rough neighborhood or dysfunctional family along with the N.E.W.S. (Negatively Exploiting Whole Societies) can affect the human psyche greatly. On the other hand, that is NOT an excuse to commit crimes against humanity. All throughout history, there are stories about people who overcame INCREDIBLE odds to achieve greatness (not to mention a large number of REAL friendships). Okay, I got off topic for a brief moment. Earlier I mentioned a few of the many possible ways for friendships to end.

Now let's be positive for once, there are also many ways for friendships to withstand the test of time. So what is a REAL friend? Well for one thing, a REAL friend will tell you like it is (good or bad). Secondly, a REAL friend will be loyal and stick around whether you have money or not. Furthermore, if both of you have a run-in with law enforcement, your REAL friend will not let you get in trouble (that is if whatever the police find is not really yours). Sometimes, a REAL friend might take the blame even if they are totally INNOCENT (Now that's one heck of a friend...). On top of that, a real friend will join in your business opportunity or at least encourage you to pursue your goals and dreams.

I don't know about you, but when I am down and out, a REAL friend is who I would want in my corner besides my family. If you don't remember anything else I wrote in this article, REMEMBER THIS...a REAL friend is NOT revealed when times are good, but only in times of adversity or crisis. I repeat, a REAL friend is NOT revealed when times are good, but only in times of adversity and crisis. In closing, feel free to add that I may have overlooked.
