Women have made tremendous advances in all facets of society in the last 20 to 30 years.
Well over half of the students in all colleges and universities are women.
There are more professional women now than ever before.
Women have chosen in some cases to put their career first before a family.
But even though a career and a family may coexist professional women do it very well.
Having said that, women still are the targets of violence in nine out of ten cases.
That hasn't changed and probably will never change.
Consider it just an unfortunate fact of life.
And professional women are not homebodies.
They travel more even if it's just to and from work.
They make road trips for their companies and are exposed much more than their nonworking female counterparts.
So in some cases professional women might as well have a target on their back.
If they are aware that they are targets, that is the first step towards creating a solution to the problem.
The first thing they should do is take some self defense classes to learn basic self-defense moves.
This can be done in the comfort of their own home with or without friends and taught by professionals.
A basic "jeet kune do" course will protect you in 90 percent of all street confrontations.
The next thing they should do is get some self defense products.
These are products that provide a nonlethal alternative to deadly force.
You should look for something small, easy to use, concealable and has a track record of success.
Here are the top three self defense products for professional women.
1.
The C-2 taser-was developed specifically for women.
It is 100 percent effective and shoots two electrified darts up to 15 feet away.
2.
The Mace pepper gun-has a range of 25 feet and has enough OC (oleoresin capsicum) for seven 25 foot shots.
So it can be used against multiple attackers.
3.
The pretender stun gun-is one of the most powerful in the world at 4.
5 million volts.
It can be worn as a pager and looks just like a camera cell phone.
Professional women because of the very nature of what they do are exposed to threats of violence more often than their stay at home mom counterparts.
They should take some steps to protect themselves with some basic self-defense classes and a nonlethal self defense weapon.
