How to Set Screen Columns in Wordpress
- WordPress allows you to edit your own pages on their website using HTML coding. HTML represents the numbers, letters and symbols that are used in a website editor to control the look of any website. While WordPress features automatic coding to enter simple text, pictures or videos, you can create your own modifications by entering the coding itself. With the prospect of creating screen columns, the code is a simple and a short one.
- To change anything on your page, you must first navigate to the WordPress homepage and login using your user name and your password. Once logged in, you can access your account to determine which page(s) you would like to edit. Decide which text page you would like to give column formatting, and click on that post from your dashboard page. The posts will be filed chronologically, and you can find the post you are looking for by date or by the name of the post.
- Once you click on your desired post, you will be directed to the "Edit" page next. From this page you can edit the simple formatting or the HTML coding on the page. You would click "Visual" on the top of the editing box if you would like to edit the text only, but you want to change the look of the page, so you would click "HTML." Once this is clicked, you can then find any and every spot on the page you would like to break into a column.
- Locate the paragraph that you would like to end the first column and paste <!--column--> just after the punctuation ending the paragraph. Paste this same short HTML code after every paragrah that you would like to end a column. Once you have selected all of your columns to set, click "Save" and your post will be saved with its new columns. You will then be able to preview to check the new look of your page.
