    • 1). Type the invitation wording on your computer, setting the page size to 5-by-7. Load the printer with 5-by-7 cardstock and print the invitations.

    • 2). Decorate the backs of the invitations with Dora-themed stickers. Spell out each guest's name with alphabet stickers on the back of her invitation.

    • 3). Place the invitations in 5-by-7 envelopes and decorate them in the Dora theme, as well. Mail the invitations about three weeks before the party.

    • 4). Plan the menu for the party based on the time of day and the age of the children invited. Since Dora is primarily a preschool-aged show, plan a mid-afternoon party with some finger sandwiches and snack foods.

    • 5). Make a variety of sandwiches, including lunch meat and cheese and peanut butter and jelly, the night before the party. Use animal-shaped cookie cutters to cut the sandwiches into animal shapes, since many of Dora's friends are animals. Place the sandwiches on a serving tray covered with plastic wrap and store them overnight in the fridge.

    • 6). Cut pieces of 5-by-7 cardstock in half. Place a Dora-themed sticker in the center of each cardstock piece and tape a small dowel on the back. The night before the party, insert these Dora flags into a few dozen store-bought cupcakes.

    • 7). Cover the party table with an orange tablecloth and set it with purple paper plates, purple utensils and orange napkins. These colors reflect Dora's standard outfit of an orange pair of pants and a purple top. Hang a variety of theme-colored streamers from the ceiling.

    • 8). Tie a Mylar Dora-themed balloon to the back of the birthday child's chair. Tie a colorful latex balloon to all the other chairs.

    • 9). Set out the sandwiches and the cupcakes on the party table before your guests arrive. Fill plastic bowls with pretzels, chips and grapes. Fill another bowl with ice and set a variety of juice boxes amid the ice.

Stage Dora-themed party games. The Kid's Birthday Party Guide website suggests the "Dora, Boots, Swiper" game. This take on "Duck, Duck, Goose" has the "it" child go around the circle of seated children tapping each child on the head, saying "Dora," "Boots" or "Swiper." When the "it" child says "Swiper," the tapped child must get up and chase the "it" child back to his seat in the circle. If he catches him, the "it" child takes another round tapping the kids. If not, the chaser becomes the "it" child and takes his turn tapping the other kids.

Provide the kids with markers and paper lunch sacks on which to write their names, with your help if necessary. Fill bowls with a variety of candy and have the kids line up to fill their sacks as party favors to take home.
