Blogging - Just the Basic Facts
Blogging has gained a huge following over the last few years, and with good reason too.
This type of business model can be easily created, has very little overhead expense, and has proven to be a lucrative source of income for many individuals.
Once you know the mechanics behind creating a blog, you too may have the opportunity to prosper from your words.
Let's start out with just the basics.
What is a blog? When blogs first hit the internet they were referred to as web-logs.
These web-logs were nothing more than an online diary, or better yet..
a simple form of online communication.
Today blogging is known as an inexpensive, simple, yet effective way to start an online business from scratch.
If I wanted to start a blog right this very minute I could, and this is how I would go about it.
First I would choose my blogging platform.
There are several sites available for both free, and hosted blogs.
If I were a beginner I would probably choose a free platform.
Next, I would need to think of a theme, or purpose for my blog.
I would recommend picking something that you know about, or want to know about.
You will be writing about things related to this subject matter, so make sure that it's something of interest so that it helps you stay focused, and on track.
Choosing a topic that you know little about, will require more research, and effort on your part.
OnceĀ I have chosen a theme, I would then start my keyword research.
As a blogger, your job is to entertain and inform.
So look for key phrases that are of interest to your readers, and make sure that they are related to your theme.
You want keywords that are high in search volume, while having very little competition.
You will need to find many keywords in order to grow your blog.
I make it a point to find my category keywords first and since I post to my blog 6 days a week, I will also need 6 post keywords.
I would then choose one of my keywords, and write one post a day using that keyword as the title.
I also sprinkle my keyword throughout the page, about once for every 50-100 words.
This is known as keyword density.
I would also use Latent Semantic Indexing keywords, don't let that scare you off.
LSI keywords are just other words that may be related to what you are talking about.
For instance, if you were writing a post about football a few LSI words might be goal, coach, players, etc.
If you write naturally, most of these words will be automatically added anyway.
After writing each post, I would make sure to ping my blog.
Pinging your blog just means that you are spreading the word that you have new, fresh content on your site.
This will help your blog gain exposure.
Make sure to post often, at the very least three times a week.
Search engines love new content, the #1 rule online is that "content is king".
Soon my blog will start seeing visitors, sometimes referred to as traffic.
Now is the time to monetize your blog for income.
There are many options available when it comes to earning online as a blogger.
You can get paid for reviewing products, selling ad space, using cost per action programs, and so many more.
This is solely up to the owner of the blog.
If you put a little effort into blogging, the outcome may surprise you.
Anyone can do this, but it will require dedication on your part.
Making money online doesn't just happen, you still have to work for it.
