Directions for How to Make a Suspended Faucet Fountain

    • 1). Glue four decorative metal feet to the underside of a decorative flowerpot, using waterproof construction adhesive. Let the adhesive dry. The feet will elevate the flowerpot enough to feed the electrical cord through the drainage opening, making it less obtrusive.

    • 2). Feed the power cord from the submersible pump through the flowerpot's drainage opening. Sit the pump in the center of the flowerpot. Close the opening around the cord with silicone sealant and let it harden.

    • 3). Drill four 1/8-inch holes about a quarter-inch from one end of the 24-inch length of clear-plastic tubing. The holes should be opposite each other around the circumference of the tube--one each at the north, east, west and south points of the tubing. These holes will allow the water to flow out the side of the tubing as if it were falling from the spout.

    • 4). Attach the end of the 24-inch, clear-plastic tube without holes to the spout on the submersible fountain pump. The tubing should fit over the fountain spout tightly; use duct tape to create a seal, if necessary.

    • 5). Cut a length of wire mesh to fit inside the flower pot from the base to 2 inches below the rim, across the pot and down the other side to the base. Fold the mesh to form an inverted flat "U."

    • 6). Slide the legs of the "U" against the sides of the flowerpot and feed the plastic tube through the center hole in the mesh. The flat portion of the "U" is the support for the decorative moss.

    • 7). Turn the handle on the faucet spout to the off position. Attach the inside of the faucet spout to the end of the clear-plastic tubing with drilled holes, using silicone sealant or clear waterproof construction adhesive. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.

    • 8). Fill the flowerpot with water, up to the wire mesh. Cover the mesh with decorative moss. Plug in the pump.
