Safe Methods to Remove a Skunk From a Live Trap
- 1). Lift the trapped skunk into the back of a pickup truck and drive into the wild, several miles away from your home, to prevent it from coming back to your residence.
- 2). Tie a long string to the trap's release lever or handle. Slowly and quietly walk at least 20 feet behind the cage.
- 3). Carefully pull the string up to open the door to the cage. Allow the skunk to walk out on its own. Do not try to startle or force the skunk out of its cage.
- 4). Wait until the skunk has moved at least 50 feet away from your vehicle before starting it and leave the area.
