How to Dress When Flying From a Cold to a Warm Climate
- 1). Layer your clothes. For example, wear three basic layers of shirts: a hooded sweatshirt over a long-sleeved T-shirt, and wear those over a short-sleeved T-shirt. Layering from heavy to light allows you to remove the clothes first that are most suited for trapping body heat and keeping you warm. Pick cotton or alpaca fabric for the sweatshirt and a cotton or nylon-mesh fabric for the T-shirts. Wear a sweatshirt with pockets. A sweatshirt also is equipped to tie around your waist if the weather gets too warm.
- 2). Wear a pair of cotton-fiber pants and heavy-bodied tennis shoes. Wear a pair of long underwear, if necessary, should denim pants be your only option. Avoid wearing denim, for example, to prevent heat from escaping your body while you are still in a cold climate. Also avoid wearing thin, canvas sneakers or flip-flops.
- 3). Wear a knit cap on your head. A knit cap helps your head retain heat while you are still in the cold climate. Remove the hat as the temperature warms and place it into one of the pockets of your sweatshirt.
- 4). Clip a pair of sunglasses to your shirt to prevent the blinding power of the sun from hurting your eyes after stepping off of a long plane ride. Ultraviolet-protected sunglasses provide a defense from harmful heat rays and help your eyes properly adjust to an intensely sunny day.
