Lupus Disease.

Commonly thought of as one of many skin diseases, lupus disease of is actually a disease of the immune system. Lupus disease occurs when the immune system starts attacking healthy parts of the body, instead of protecting them from infection. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, which is the most common type of lupus disease, can affect the skin with hair loss, mouth sores, and the butterfly rash, which occurs over the bridge of the nose and across both cheeks. Discoid Lupus disease only affects the skin, and consists of large, red, circular rashes that are made worse by sunlight.

Melanoma Disease.

The most serious type of cancerous skin diseases, melanoma is caused by overexposure to UV rays from the sun. Even though it isn't the most common type of skin cancer, it is the most dangerous, and can quickly spread from the skin to internal organs and bones. Melanoma runs in families, and one of the first signs of melanoma is when a mole, birthmark or other skin growth starts to change - changes in size, color or shape of these areas could mean that melanoma is present. But they can also grow on normal, unmarked skin too.

Shingles Disease.

Also known as Herpes Zoster, shingles is a viral infection where a skin rash happens on one side of the body - either the left or the right. The rash can be in a band, a strip, or in just a small section, and occurs when the virus that causes chickenpox wakes up in the body's system. Most people's leftover chickenpox virus never wake's up, but when it does, shingles happens. For the most part, once you get shingles and get better, you won't get it again, just like chickenpox.

Now that you are prepared with more information about these three skin diseases, you can go ahead and do that skin diseases quiz. Good luck! We hope you get a perfect score!
