How to Deal With Cheating Wives
- 1). Identify whether your wife is a serial cheater or if she had a one-time affair. A one-time affair is much easier to address and deal with than serial cheating is, as serial cheating is a more endemic, locked-in part of her personality.
- 2). Talk to someone who will just listen rather than offer advice. When you've first discovered your wife's infidelity, you will be too distraught to listen to rational advice, but you will need someone to simply emphatically listen to you and let you get your feelings off your chest.
- 3). Talk to your wife and assess whether both of you want the marriage to continue. If one of you is ambivalent, then the marriage is probably over. Both of you need to commit to actually working together and making the marriage work.
- 4). Talk to your wife and try to get to the root causes of the cheating. Cheating is a symptom of other problems, not a problem in and of itself, and if you don't address and resolve the root cause it will probably happen again.
- 5). Address the details of the affair during your conversations. This may be painful and she may not want to disclose them, but it is important to talk about it from every angle in order to get a better idea of the root causes.
- 6). Consider giving your wife an actual, tangible reason to not cheat. One example is a post-nuptial agreement, which generally stipulates that if it happens again she has to leave the marriage with nothing. If she refuses to sign this, it indicates a certain lack of commitment that you should be aware of.
- 7). Talk to a marriage counselor. Infidelity is a big deal, and you may not be able to work through it on your own. A third party is excellent to encourage discussion and help you work through the infidelity to get your marriage back on track.
