Skin is the largest organ that covers the entire body and protects us from the ill-effects of various external insults. Skin responds equally to both external and internal changes and stimuli. Psycho-dermatology is the need of the hour. The incidence of various dermatological problems is increasing, the primary cause being psychological in nature. Simple acne causes severe stress and agony in teenagers these days. Stress/ psychological problems trigger various dermatoses and various dermatological problems are known to cause psychological problems. The primary etiology of the disease may not be a psychological problem but psychological stress can worsen preexisting diseases or trigger skin diseases. Psychological stress may have an impact on treatment of skin diseases as well.
A large numbers of patients seek consultation for various skin problems these days. Self diagnosis and self medication is also not uncommon among these patients.

The constant fear/ the total loss of hope and belief, anxiety, etc., are largely impacting on the dermatological disease in people especially living in the coastal vicinity.
