The World Is Waiting On The New North Korean President

The world has been watching and wondering whether or not North Korean President Kim Jung un would stick to the hard line political policies of his deceased father. I personally believe that the reason that he was chosen as the successor is because the departed President Kin saw his same political ideals in him that he also has and knew that he would keep the impoverished country on the same course. This allows him to maintain his devilish control even from the grave.

The following statement was made by the North Korean government "On this occasion, we solemnly declare with confidence that foolish politicians around the world, including the puppet forces in South Korea, should not expect any changes from us." This statement was read as a broadcast and supposedly originated from the new president. It was made by the National Defense Commission and was probably conceived by someone else in the hierarchy of the North Korean government and attributed to the president.

In a break from the black mourning clothing worn since Kim Jong il's death, the broadcaster wore dark red clothes and almost shouted her defiant message.

North Korea has a long history of using bellicose phrases against the South, especially since the conservative government of Lee Myung bak took office in 2008 and ended a policy of engagement with the North. It has threatened to turn the South's capital Seoul into a "sea of fire" on numerous occasions and repeated that rhetoric again on Friday.

In 2010, the North launched an artillery barrage that killed South Korean civilians for the first time since the end of the Korean War in 1953. It was blamed for sinking a South Korean warship by the name of Cheonan earlier that year. An independent international investigation determined that the ship was sunk by a torpedo fired from a North Korean vessel.

Little is known of Kim Jong un, who had been groomed for government since 2009.
He is known as the Supreme Commander in North Korea and is expected to rule with the aid of key figures like his Uncle Jang Song thaek, at least in the early stages of the power transition. This will make it difficult for him to change the political attitude of his country because he is surrounded by a plethora of hard liners who shared the views of his father.

Under Kim Jong il, who died earlier this month aged 69, North Korea conducted two nuclear tests and a top observer of its nuclear program said this week the country may only be a few years away from developing a nuclear tipped missile.

I dont think that North Korea would be foolish enough to start a nuclear exchange with South Korea but I have to look at their history of conducting aggressive and provocative acts against South Korea and I have to wonder.

Now is a prime opportunity for North Korea to back off of its hard line stance and join the rest of the world to modernize and fix its hurting economy but the possibility of this happening seems to be low. The South Korean government will be more than happy to reunite with the North if they were to enter talks without their outdated political agenda.Military Ring Express
