103 7
Warts on the face, from a medical perspective, are usually harmless.
However, they can certainly be a source of embarrassment and cause a loss of self-confidence.
Because of this, many people will resort to sometimes drastic measures to have them removed.
If done incorrectly, removing a wart on the face can cause scarring and leave you in worse shape than you started with.
Warts on the face must be handled much more carefully than typical warts.
Some of the methods that are can be used on the hands or feet for example are just not practical for the face.
Typically, warts on the face are of the Flat Wart variety.
Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) and are contagious.
The virus can be transmitted through contact with an infected individual.
It can even be contracted by using a towel that has come in contact with an infected person.
Removal of facial warts is not simple.
There are various techniques that many people have had success with, but these techniques vary from person to person simply because every person's immune system responds differently.
Perhaps one of the safest methods for removing facial warts is the surgical method.
This procedure is performed by a physician and involves freezing the wart using Liquid Nitrogen.
But be forewarned, this method is very painful.
After this treatment, the skin will develop blisters that can be painful for up to 3 days.
Because flat warts usually form in clusters, more than one treatment may be necessary.
I would only recommend this method after all other techniques have been exhausted.
Using over-the-counter medications is a method that is far less painful.
These products contain salicylic acid and are very inexpensive.
Probably the most well known product is Compound-W.
There are 2 types of application, adhesive pads that are treated with salicylic acid, or bottles of concentrated salicylic acid.
This is not a fast removal method and can take several weeks of daily applications.
There are several home remedies that are available.
However, in order to remove the wart successfully, you must know the proper steps and techniques.
