    • 1). Ask your child to was his hands to get rid of any excess dirt.

    • 2). Rub the glazed mug with a rubbing alcohol-soaked, cotton ball to get rid of any dirt. Let the mug dry.

    • 3). Shake the paint you would like to use and pour it onto a paper plate.

    • 4). Guide your child's hand onto the paint and help her cover the palm of her hand with the paint.

    • 5). Help your child's hand onto the mug. Lightly press on all his fingers to get a good impression, without moving his hand.

    • 6). Ask the child to remove her hand straight off the mug. Help guide her hand off the mug to not mess it up.

    • 7). Help him wash his hands to get rid of the the paint completely from his hands.

    • 8). Paint other details onto the mug with the ceramic paints.

    • 9). Let the mug dry according to the specific paint's directions. It will depend on the band of paint. Some will require you to bake the finished mug and others will require you to let them dry for up to three weeks.
