    • 1). Determine the region of North Dakota in which you wish to find land. If you are seeking land with recreation opportunities and some topography, look to the Soutwest corner, near the Maah-Daah-Hey Trail system. This area borders South Dakota near the Badlands and the Black Hills. Find real-estate agents in this region in Medora, North Dakota, and Dickinson, North Dakota, two of the larger communities in the region.

    • 2). Look for farm and ranch land around the Bismarck region. Benefits of farm land in this region is access to irrigation from the Missouri River. Bismarck is a large city by North Dakota standards and has real-estate and ranch brokers.

    • 3). Find land tracts nearer the Great Lakes region and Minnesota in Fargo, North Dakota. Fargo and its environs is flat and suitable for farming, ranching or building your own private and rural retreat. Land in the area is readily available and there are several brokers in Fargo.

    • 4). Take advantage of local grange and agricultural organizations like the FFA or 4-H. These clubs are youth-oriented but provide a way of meeting people and families in North Dakota communities. Network and ask around at meetings or socials and tell people what you are looking for in a tract of land.
