Ancient Greece is rich in history, culture, scenic beauty and rife with famous landmarks, attractions and ruins. One way to visit all of these spots is on a guided tour that is available by coach bus or by foot. To travel to the Greek islands, use a ferry to take you to your destination. Book a tour in advance so you can focus on the beauty of Greece, without having to plan details like transportation and navigation. - Encounter Greece specializes in sightseeing around the country. The four-day tour is the best value and allows guests to see the best of Greece. On the first day, you will depart Athens from the Rafina Ferry Port for Mykonos, one of Greece's most picturesque islands. After exploring the clear blue waters and sun-bleached architecture of the island, retire to your hotel for an overnight stay. On day two, you'll travel to Santorini, one of Greek's most visited islands 150 miles off the coast of the mainland. In 1,500 B.C., a massive volcano erupted, destroying the population of the island. The remnants of the volcano have been transformed into a scenic island escape. You'll spend days two and three and the morning of day four here before heading back to Athens. Guided tours take you on a volcano exploration and to the areas of Thirrassia, Acrotiri and the Santorini hot springs. For double occupancy, the tour rate in 2010 is 565 euros or $716 USD, and single occupancy, 740 euros, or $938.
