Backlight (New to Eye Candy 5: Impact)
Backlight creates a variety of lighting effects in the forms of rays of light, light beams, and light filtering through the selected object. Lighting color is controlled through a gradient editor for infinite variety. Other options allow you to control the backlight direction, distance, expansion, mode (outline or fill), slices, blur, streaks, and streak size. Backlight can be rendered to a new layer, and features click-and-drag controls directly in the preview window.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Eye Candy 5: Impact - Bevel Filter Examples
Bevel
Bevel (formerly named Bevel Boss) creates a variety of inner and outer bevels, embossed effects, and carved shapes to simulate plastic, concrete, metal, and more. You can control the bevel width, height, smoothness, corner roundness, bevel placement (inside or outside the selection), shading, surface texture attributes, and more. Lighting direction, color, brightness, and angle can be adjusted. The Bevel profile editor lets you control the shape of the bevel, by using presets or by drawing a cross section of the bevel shape within the editor window. By shaping the bevel profile, infinite variety is possible. The redesigned Bevel filter now allows you to render the bevel effect to a new layer so the original content remains unchanged.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review

Brushed Metal (New to Eye Candy 5: Impact)
With the Brushed Metal filter you can create circular, linear, or hand-brushed metallic surfaces in any color. Controls allow you to adjust the brush style and direction, metal color, highlight sharpness, grain contrast, grain length, brush size, brush density, and brush variation. When working with selections, the brushed metal effect can be rendered to a new layer.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Eye Candy 5: Impact - Chrome Filter Examples
Chrome
The Chrome filter uses reflection maps to create a variety of realistic, shiny metal effects. You are not limited only to chrome; by modifying the reflection map, tint color, lighting, and other controls, you can create other metallics such as gold, silver, copper, bronze, liquid metal, hammered metal, and more. The improved reflection map feature adds extraordinary realism to the metallic effect. Several reflection maps are included, or you can use any JPEG file for your own reflection maps. Like the Bevel filter, Chrome also offers the bevel profile editor for adjusting the shape of the bevel. The chrome effect can be rendered to a new layer.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Eye Candy 5: Impact - Extrude Filter Examples
Extrude (New to Eye Candy 5: Impact)
The Extrude filter changes flat objects into 3D shapes with lighting and perspective effects. The Extrude filter features click-and-drag controls directly in the preview window, and controls for adjusting the extrude direction, distance, taper, smoothness, color, and lighting. Extruded objects can use a custom color, or the extrusion color can be taken from the original object or selection.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review

Glass
Glass creates instant clear or colored glass effects by simulating refraction, light filtering, and light reflection. This version of glass has been improved to generate smoother, shinier glassy surfaces with drop shadows and reflections. Controls allow you to adjust the bevel size and shape, bevel placement (inside or outside selection), glass color, opacity, tint amount, refraction, inner shadow, drop shadow opacity, shadow offset, and shadow glow. You can also adjust the lighting and apply custom reflection maps. The bevel profile editor lets you control the bevel shape surrounding the glass edges.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Eye Candy 5: Impact - Gradient Glow Filter Examples
Gradient Glow
Gradient Glow creates an endless variety of glows and halo effects around the outer edges of a selection or object. The gradient editor is capable of countless color stops as well as varying levels of opacity throughout the gradient. Gradients can be modified and created by altering the color, spacing, and opacity of each of the stop points along the gradient preview. The glow effect can be further manipulated by adjusting the glow type (inside, outside, or both), glow radius, corner softness, opacity, distortion, and lumpiness. The gradient glow effect can be rendered to a new layer.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Eye Candy 5: Impact - Motion Trail Filter Examples
Motion Trail
Motion trail creates the illusion of movement by adding a blurred trail to an object or selection. Controls allow you to adjust the direction, length, taper, side compression, opacity, and selection masking amount. Improvements in this version of Motion Trail allow you to create motion trails that curve along a flexible path so objects appear to swoop, swerve, swing, and turn. With in-preview controls, you can manipulate the curve of the trail path by dragging directly in the preview.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Perspective Shadow
The Perspective Shadow filter (formerly named Shadowlab) allows you to easily create 3D perspective shadows, drop shadows, cast shadows, and reflections. Shadows can be placed in front or behind objects, and in-preview controls allow you to adjust the size, shape, and position of the shadows simply by dragging in the preview window. Controls allow you to manipulate the shadow mode (drop or perspective shadow), center offset, opacity, overall blur, perspective blur, fade out amount, and shadow color (solid or reflected from the selection). In some situations, the shadow effect can be rendered to a new layer.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
Super Star
Super Star (formerly Star) creates regular polygon shapes such as star bursts, pentagrams, and octagons, and now it can create irregular and abstract shapes as well. Super Star includes new controls for curved sides, gaps, and tip flattening. Other controls allow you to adjust the star type (classic, curvy, or irregular), radius (size), orientation, number of sides, indentation, and spike irregularity. The gradient editor allows infinite color effects, and now you can choose to have the color radiate from the edges or the center of your shape. In-preview controls allow you to easily manipulate the position and size of the shape by dragging control points in the preview window. The Super Star shapes can also be rendered to a new layer.Eye Candy 5: Impact Review
