How to Get Two Metal Pans Apart
- 1). Boil 3 cups of water on a pot on the stove. Place the drain plug into the sink to hold the water. Pour the boiling water into the sink. The water should cover about 1 to 2 inches of the sink bottom.
- 2). Fill the top metal pan with ice cubes. Add cold water over the ice cubes, filling the pan completely.
- 3). Set the stuck pans carefully into the water in the sink. Grasp the lips of the pans to keep your fingers from touching the hot water. Allow the pans to sit in the sink for 20 minutes.
- 4). Remove the pans from the sink, dumping the water and cubes from the top pan. Dry the pans with a dish towel. Turn the pans upside down.
- 5). Hold the edge or lip of the bottom pan with a rubber jar lid remover. This allows you a firmer grasp on the pan. Holding the bottom pan with the rubber piece, pry the top pan up and away.
- 1). Lay a folded towel on a hard surface such as a picnic table or workbench. Place the stuck metal pans on the towel.
- 2). Bang on the bottom pan with a rubber mallet. Thump around the bottom edges of the pan and then on the sides.
- 3). Hold the pans and pry apart with your hands. If the pans remain steadfast, continue hitting with the rubber mallet.
