    Tropical Themed Glass Bookends

    • 1). Paint blue waves along the outside bottom edge of one glass jar using blue glass paint and a small paint brush.

    • 2). Fill the jar halfway with sand.

    • 3). Add seashells to the remaining top half of the jar.

    • 4). Apply the lid of the jar.

    • 5). String raffia ribbon with three matching glass beads and tie the raffia ribbon around the neck of the jar for a final tropical touch.

    • 6). Repeat steps one through five on a second jar to create matching glass bookends.

    Fake Fish Bowl

    • 1). Fill one quarter of the glass jar with pebbles or other decorative stones.

    • 2). Arrange plastic aquarium plants inside the jar and on the surface of the pebbles to your liking.

    • 3). Glue one end of the string to the plastic fish toy and allow it to dry.

    • 4). Glue the remaining end of the string to the underside of the jar lid making sure the bottom of the string and the attached fish falls somewhere in the center of the jar.

    • 5). Allow the glue to dry before attaching the lid to the jar and repeat all steps on a second jar for a complete set of bookends.

    Gumball Machine

    • 1). Paint the outline of a black circle at the bottom exterior of the jar, using black glass paint, to replicate the candy slot on a gumball machine.

    • 2). Paint a rectangle around your black circle in gray glass paint, painting the front side of the jar only and covering the bottom quarter of the jar completely.

    • 3). Paint the remaining sides of the jar, including the lid, in red glass paint, leaving only the remaining front of the jar untouched.

    • 4). Paint "Bubble Gum" or the decal of your choice in white glass paint at the top front of the jar, add a coin slot in black glass paint on one side of the jar and allow the paint to dry.

    • 5). Add marbles to the bottom of the jar for extra weight, fill the remainder of the jar with assorted gum balls and attach the lid. Repeat all steps on a second jar to create a set of matching glass bookends.
