How to Care for an Aboveground Pool
- 1). Keep weeds from growing around the base of the pool. Pull weeds out as soon as they begin to grow. Roots can grow beneath the pool and poke through the vinyl liner.
- 2). Wash the sides of the pool periodically with a garden hose to remove dirt, sand or mold.
- 3). Run the pool filter between eight to 10 hours each day during the swim season. Back-wash --- flushing out debris --- from the filter every few days to ensure only clean water goes back into the pool.
- 4). Skim debris from the pool water every day. Vacuum the pool at least once a week to remove debris from the bottom of the pool.
- 5). Add chemicals on a weekly basis. Use an approved pool water test kit and follow the manufacturer's directions for adding the proper amount of chemicals.
- 6). Cover the pool when not in use. This will prevent dirt and debris from entering the pool in large amounts when the pool sits idle.
