How to Hang Heavy Objects in Repaired Drywall

    • 1). Place the heavy object against the wall and place a level on top of it if you need to ensure the object rests on the wall in a level position.

    • 2). Mark each mounting hole with a pencil and place the object off to the side.

    • 3). Inspect the toggle on a toggle bolt to determine the proper drill size needed for drilling the hole on the wall. The toggle is the collapsible butterfly nut threaded onto the toggle bolt. You will see the drill bit size printed on the toggle.

    • 4). Drill holes though the drywall with the appropriately sized drill bit and hand drill.

    • 5). Remove the toggles from the toggle bolts and slide the bolts through the mounting holes on the heavy objects. Thread the toggles onto the toggle bolts

    • 6). Press the toggles into the wall and tighten the bolts with a screwdriver. As you tighten the bolts, the toggles will spread out and grip the backside of the drywall.
