The Removal of Cyanoacrylate From Eyeglass Lenses
- 1). Wipe off as much of the glue as possible with a water-dampened cloth. You may not be able to remove any glue if it has dried completely.
- 2). Add 3 drops of liquid dish soap to 1 cup hot water.
- 3). Dip the glasses into the water so that the cyanoacrylate stain is submerged.
- 4). Let the glasses soak for one hour.
- 5). Remove the glasses from the liquid and gently scrape off the cyanoacrylate with the edge of a plastic credit card. The glue may have softened from the soapy water. If not, return the glasses for another hour and scrape again.
- 6). Soak a clean cloth in acetone if the glue is still on the glasses and if the glasses are uncoated. Acetone will remove eyeglass coating.
- 7). Lay the acetone-soaked cloth over the glue on the eyeglass lenses.
- 8). Let the rag sit for several hours. Reapply the acetone if the cloth dries out.
- 9). Remove the cloth when the glue has softened completely.
