Overcoming Guilt for Soul Development

101 4
When Westerners make a mistake we have been conditioned to feel bad about that mistake so that we will not repeat the same mistake in the future. This conditioning is known as guilt. While human, community, society and, indeed, soul progression requires that we acknowledge mistakes and strive not to repeat the same, there is no need to feel guilty for our actions. Please do not misconstrue this point for an acceptance of antisocial behavior. This is not a call to condone harmful behavior because of a caution on the harm that guilt has on our soul's long-term development. It is never right to harm others purposely.

The point here is that when accidents are made and no malice was intended, we should (after apologizing of course and seeking to make amends) learn from our mistakes and seek not to repeat them again. We must understand how our actions have harmed the other person and internalize for a moment the pain that has been caused to grasp the implications of a bad decision or mistake. Then we should think about what could have been done differently to achieve a better outcome, and if not too late, attempt to right the wrong with that better solution.

Research into hypnotic past-life regression shows the life review we undergo after death basically covers these same steps and objectives. There is no finger pointing or trial, jury and punishment sequence, as many organized religions might want us to think in order to keep us in line through fear mongering. During a life review we simply understand the pain we have caused others and seek a better solution to avoid the same mistake and bad decision the next time around. That is proper behavior for one's soul development, and it doesn't have to wait until we crossover to become part of our reality and learning process.

When we get stuck with guilt and feeling remorse for our past actions, we paralyze our consciousness and render it incapable of focusing on the present and accomplishing the life goals our over-soul has set for us in this life. We can't experience the joy of life that is here-now in the present because our mind is stuck reliving the past. Our consciousness cannot make the positive future it wants to experience through deliberate effort in the present because its focus continues to be absorbed by guilt and those actions and mistakes of the past. And so the lesson becomes apparent.

The past must be left in the past. We need to learn from our mistakes and then move on. We cannot afford to dwell on those mistakes endlessly because we are harming our soul's development when we fail to focus on the present and through which, experience the life we were meant to have.  So do your soul's development a favor; give up guilt and get on with life.
