How to Eat Greens With High Blood Pressure Medications
- 1). Avoid using high-fat oils to cook your greens. Instead of using butter and lard, try using a light vegetable oil or olive oil. These oils are just as palatable, yet they are not as heavy.
- 2). Use as little salt as possible. It is best if you do not use salt at all, so be sparing if you do decide to use it. Use a low sodium salt substitute. These substitutes do not taste exactly like salt, but they will prevent interfering with use of your high blood-pressure medication.
- 3). Be mindful of the portions of greens you eat. Although, your greens are free from the usual fatty additives, this does not mean that you get to gorge on them.
- 4). Add fiber powder to your greens. Fiber is known to aid in digestion of food and it also can aid in weight loss.
- 5). Avoid using the high-fat meats like bacon and ham to flavor your greens. If you decide to use a meat to flavor your greens, use the a very small portion of meat. Run the meat under faucet water to rid it of its saltiness.
