One of the most frequent health complaints is dizziness.
And there are many types of dizziness treatments such as surgery, medication and vertigo exercises.
Dizziness is technically known as vertigo, it can be defined as the feeling of movement when you are not moving.
There are many different causes of dizziness ranging from non-serious conditions to more serious conditions.
This article will focus on the dizziness caused by BPPV or benign positional vertigo.
The condition of lightheadedness must be understood to be different from dizziness.
Although it may not seem like an important distinction these are different symptoms and have different causes and will be treated very differently.
A medical treatment of dizziness is the use of drugs or medication and while effective for symptoms it does little for the actual cause.
The use of herbal solutions and what is called vertigo exercises are also dizziness treatment options.
The feeling of being lightheaded is the same as when you feel you are going to faint or 'pass out'.
A feeling of dizziness where you or your environment moves around will not be experienced.
The problems of lightheadedness are often relieved with just lying down.
An associated symptom is that of feeling sick in the stomach, which is also called nausea.
The problems of lightheadedness are common when getting up from lying or being seated to a standing position.
this change in posture requires more pressure to maintain enough blood flow to the brain and when this is not adequate you will feel lightheaded.
This is called orthostatic hypotension and is the result of low blood pressure.
Vertigo is defined as the feeling that you or your surroundings are moving when they are actually still.
It is often described as feeling like you are turning, spinning, tilting or falling.
Associated with the vertigo is commonly nausea or a feeling of sickness in the stomach.
Your balance may be affected and standing or walking may be challenging, which can lead to increase chance of falls.
Vertigo is most commonly caused by a condition called BPPV or benign positional vertigo.
This happens as a result of loose debris in the inner ear balance organs.
The small debris affect the balance receptors and the result is a feeling of vertigo.
Throughout time there have been many dizziness treatments used for BPPV or benign positional vertigo.
In this instance symptoms can be relieved by using drugs or medication which will desensitize the nervous system and lessen the feelings of vertigo and nausea, but will not fix the cause of the problem.
This is also the case with the herb ginger which can help ease nausea but not correct the underlying problem of BPPV.
It is good news that there are effective, safe and scientifically proven dizziness treatments for BPPV or benign positional vertigo.
This can be accomplished without the use of drugs or having surgery.
The treatments work so effectively because they correct or fix the cause of the problem of the vertigo.
They do not just cover up the symptoms.
