Bath Products That Are Good for You and Mother Nature

What is in a bar of soap? Are not all bath products the same? Why are there so many variants of soaps, body washes, bath gels, and bath creams? And how come everybody is getting on the natural beauty products train? Let us try to tackle these topics, one by one€¦

Chemicals, chemicals, chemicals

Chemistry may have been your favorite subject before but have you ever stopped to think about what you are using on your body? In the case of soaps, at least the variants that are commonly sold in stores, a quick look at the labels may reveal ingredients, which may or may not be good for the body. If your greatest concern is safety, then it should come as no surprise to you that natural or organic products present as healthier alternatives. Unlike commercial soaps, natural ones do not contain dyes, synthetic fragrances, and preservatives. Now, you may think to yourself "but I do not have sensitive skin and besides organic soaps cost more than regular soaps." And while you cannot be faulted for wanting to save money, perhaps, you should think about how the chemicals in most store-bought soaps end up in our aquatic systems. You may be saving money now but can you honestly say that you were able to save without harming the environment? How about you chew on that tidbit first before you go on your next shopping-for-toiletries trip?

Just a matter of labeling

If you are of the younger set, you may be surprised to learn that once upon a time, it was all about bar soaps. The other cleansers -- gels, creams, foams, and so on, were not as popular, but of course, that would be a little hard to believe now, considering how the market these days, is saturated with all sorts of bath products. According to experts, there really is no difference among these various types of cleaning agents, that is, when you are looking at a very basic level. Obviously, these are all made to clean and some might prefer a certain type over the other but the general consensus is that liquid soaps contain more moisturizers than regular bar soaps. As for the pricing, soaps are often considered as the more pocket-friendly option, but then again, we are not including organic or natural handmade soaps, which may cost more but are definitely safer or gentler as far as formulations go.

Why everyone is going green

Kermit may have once felt that it is not easy being green but if you ask any natural beauty products enthusiast, you will come to realize that the payoff is indeed worth it. After all, what person would want to use a product that may possibly cause irritation, cancer, birth defects, and other alarming side effects? There is just no one who would gamble with their health that way. Also, even if you are not a hardcore environmentalist, you can do your part in lightening the load that Mother Nature bears. And what better way to start than to make the switch from commercial to natural products?
