If you are finding a niche where you have little or no competitors, so that you can start a blog within the topic, you are taking the wrong steps.
Find out why I think competitors are a good thing when it comes to blogging.
1.
Competitors are partners You should start thinking about your competitors as partners.
People are going to buy from more than one company.
If you can partner can cross-sell your products or services, you are going to grow your business exponentially.
This is especially true if the market you're in has rabid buyers.
Diet and fitness markets are two examples.
People rarely buy one type of diet product and stop.
2.
Competitions are a good sign of market demand If you are starting a niche in obscure niche, perhaps people haven't found it, but most likely it is because there are not enough interests in the topic.
Perhaps there is no money to be made in that market.
The more competitions, the harder you will get to the top.
But will proper promotion and marketing, you can get readers anyway.
With so many people to approach and cross-promote, if you can provide great content, there is no reason why you can't get audience too.
In fact, you can leverage other people's blogs if you know how, a stepping stone, if you will.
3.
The market needs more than a handful of blogs How many blogs do you read on a daily basis? If you use RSS readers, chances are you will subscribe to tens, if not hundreds of RSS feeds in the topic you are interested in.
You can't dominate the market by yourself.
With more active bloggers, you can get more links and promotion opportunities.
Just be prepared to work hard and produce great content.
It's your advantage if you're passionate about the topic of your blog.
4.
People buy from multiple vendors Unless it is your favorite perfume, you are going to buy from multiple places most of the time.
For instance, I buy food from multiple vendors.
When it comes to information, I buy books from many authors and publishers.
I can't seem to get more books.
As long as it is good, I'm eager to know.
Even if the book is average, if the author knows how to promote it, I will buy it simply because I see it everywhere.
See, the market has spaces for more than one brand.
Almost in any market.
Think long tail.
If you have an opinion, you can have a blog that gain audience.
It's a matter how you position and promote it.
